SOUTH BORDER INKS DEAL WITH RASIAH RECORDS
LOS ANGELES, California (July 20, 2007) – Pop and R&B sensation South Border recently sealed a recording deal with top independent label Rasiah Records, a move that could very well catapult Asia’s premiere band to even greater heights in the international music industry.
"We couldn’t have dreamt of a better partner. We are blessed and truly inspired to work with Rasiah Records. We believe in this collaboration," underscored Jay Oliver Durias, the band’s keyboardist and musical director.
Considered an excellent fusion of brilliant artistry and proven machinery, the deal is also a landmark event for the recording company as it’s their first with an Asian talent.
Rasiah Records, which aims to promote talents who are pure and true to their craft, is currently setting up and owning its own distribution system in both Asia and Europe. Meanwhile, South Border is currently recording new songs for an album set for release later this year.
Poised for international stardom, the band is also set to perform at this year's much-anticipated "Ghana @ 50" event on September 22, 2007. Other artists during the event include Jermaine Jackson, The Temptations, Tido Jackson, Wyclef Jean (The Fugees), as well as fellow Rasiah Records artist Zuri and many more.
South Border, long renowned to deliver nothing but quality music, is responsible for the unforgettable hits "Rainbow" (recognized as the most downloaded song in Asia), "Sweet" (the very first Filipino song laced with flavorful R&B to be featured in 93.5 KDAY radio station) and "The Show" (the highly infectious tune which has become an early favorite in many of their sold out concerts). They also recently garnered 4 awards from Musesmuse.com including accolades for Best Band, Best Musicianship and Best Overall Performance On a CD By a Duo, Group or Band, proofs that they truly hold real international potential.
Dubbed as the "next Asian invasion", the band is composed of Duncan Ramos (vocals), Vince Alaras (vocals), Paul Benitez (drums), Ric Junasa (saxophone), Butch Victoriano (lead guitar), Tata Balane (bass) and Durias.
Upcoming shows of the band include one at the Maritime Academy Theater in Vallejo, California (August 11, 2007) and another one at the Civic Auditorium Main Hall in Stockton, California (August 12, 2007). Meanwhile, a Rasiah Records-presented concert will be held on August 25, 2007 at the Warner Grand Center. The show will also feature top 80's artist Cameo.
South Border is also expected to burn stages in California, the Midwest and East Coast with their electrifying album tour performances early 2008.
